What is the difference between Plasma and LCD?

Plasma and LCD are the latest trend in home entertainment. Both offer superior image quality and resolution by eliminating the clutter of the old rear projection technologies. But with all the hype surrounding these two types of televisions are the difference between them? Although they look and are virtually the same price-, are not.

Found no differences in the way they display their photos. Plasma TV technology isconsists of hundreds of thousands of small pixels, each capable of displaying red, green and blue colors. A plasma monitor often consists of two plates, filled with an inert gas xenon or neon. When the pixels are excited by pulses of electricity, gas becomes liquid, which leads to light. This light in turn then illuminates the pixels, causing them to display the appropriate color for a form of image.

LCD panels function in the same way. Panelthin-film transmitters, or TFT, sends electricity to the cells filled with liquid crystals. When the cells were affected by electricity, the liquid crystals allow light to filter. Unlike the pixels found in plasma TVs, LCD monitors create color by blocking wavelengths of white light.

So which is better? The answer to this question depends on what you intend to use for television. We simply want to use it for watching movies and television? If yes, then onePlasma TV would be better because they are capable of greater color saturation and contrast better than their LCD counterparts and display moving images. If you plan to spend lots of time using digital photography or plan to use the screen with the computer when an LCD monitor may be more suitable for this purpose.

Both plasma and LCD technologies have their advantages and disadvantages, and the decision should be ultimately based onmonitor implementation.
